Oversætteren af Gammeldansk Bibel har bestræbt sig på, at den gammeldanske tekst skulle ligge så tæt på Vulgatas latinske tekst som muligt. Ikke alene oversætter han med stor akkuratesse hvert enkelt latinsk ord, men han har også en tendens til at overføre særlige latinske konstruktioner til dansk. Teknikken kan studeres på følgende synoptiske opstilling af begyndelsen af teksten om Babelstårnet fra Første Mosebog 11,1-9:
